Performance Career
Harpist Mayetta Im has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral harpist across North America, Europe, and Asia. She has appeared on stages including Konzerthaus Berlin, Smetana Hall in Prague, Lake Garda in Italy, and numerous concert halls throughout the United States, China, and Macau.
In the United States, Mayetta has performed with the Corpus Christi Symphony, Kingsville Symphony, Texas Medical Center Orchestra and many other regional ensembles. She was the harp principal of the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra and Moores Opera House.
Mayetta was awarded First Prize at the 29th Macao Youth Musicians Competition (harp solo group) and First Prize at the Milligan Harp Competition (2012).
She has also participated in renowned music festivals such as the Texas Music Festival, Marrowstone Music Festival, and the Eastern Music Festival, performing under distinguished conductors and collaborating with leading artists.
Teaching & Mentorship
In addition to her performing career, Mayetta is a sought-after harp and piano educator. Her students have earned top prizes at competitions including the Artciál International Piano Competition, the Milligan Harp Competition, and others. Several of her students have also successfully completed the ABRSM examinations (Grades 1–8) with Distinction.
She teaches primarily in Sugar Land and the Greater Houston area, working closely with public schools. Since 2021, she has been hired by Kerr High School of Alief ISD as their harp instructor, where she leads harp classes and ensemble coaching. She also works with numerous Fort Bend ISD students through private lessons.
Beyond teaching, Mayetta is also active as a competition adjudicator, having served as a judge for the Milligan Harp Competitions and the TMEA All-Region Harp Auditions.
